What to see at DDP and around Seoul

  • DDP Design Fair: a paid product and lifestyle-brand exhibition at the Art Hall on 14–18 October, with a young-designer exhibition.
  • Outdoor design market: 16–18 and 23–25 October; check these dates separately from the fair.
  • Seoul Design Road: choose one of Dongdaemun, Seongsu, Yeonhui, Seochon or Apgujeong to explore participating brands and creative spaces. Venue hours vary.

Why give it part of your trip?

  • Use the visit to discover how everyday objects are designed, not just what to buy
  • Compare materials and practical details, and save product names when a description is difficult to understand.

Choose your programme before your date

The design fair ends before the wider festival. For a later visit, look for exhibitions or the design market instead. The market is announced for 16–18 and 23–25 October.

Keep the route manageable

Choose DDP plus one participating neighbourhood close to your accommodation or next plan. Ask sellers separately about packaging, luggage and international shipping; none of those services is guaranteed by the festival ticket.

Places to combine with DDP

  • Heunginjimun (흥인지문 / Dongdaemun): contrast contemporary design with the historic city gate after the exhibition.
  • Cheonggyecheon (청계천), Dongdaemun section: add an outdoor walk without committing to the full route to Cheonggye Plaza.
  • Suggested order: DDP → one of the gate or stream → a meal. Check the actual route and any access changes on the day.
