A Sunday lunch with a different side of Seoul

For a change from sightseeing, head to Marche at Omok Park in Mokdong on Sunday, November 8. The Tojong 12 market brings together farmers and cooks around heritage crops and the autumn harvest. Tojong refers to traditional local crop varieties: this is a chance to encounter their place in everyday Korean food.

You do not need a kitchen to enjoy the market

The announced stalls include heritage rice and vegetables as well as rice balls, side dishes and bread. Make lunch or a snack your focus if cooking at your accommodation is difficult. Bring a shopping bag and a reusable container, and buy only what fits comfortably into the rest of your trip.

Check the times for music and workshops

A free accordion performance takes place on the central lawn at 12:30 for 30 minutes. The heritage-food talk runs at 13:00 and 14:30 for 60 minutes, costs KRW 10,000 and requires advance registration. The heritage-rice talk runs at 11:30 and 14:00 for 30 minutes and costs KRW 5,000.

The market tour starts at 13:00, lasts 50 minutes and costs KRW 5,000. The rice-cooking workshop starts at 14:30, lasts 40 minutes and costs KRW 20,000. Both require advance registration. The programmes are announced in Korean; interpretation is unconfirmed. Check individual conditions and availability through the official notice before applying.
